Way back in the 1800s, Utah’s Wasatch Mountains were a hotbed of mining activity. Like much of the rugged mountain ranges of the West, the area of today’s popular Alta and Snowbird resorts attracted hordes of hardy and determined folk with visions of gold in their eyes. They settled in the verdant envrions of Little Cottonwood Canyon and established the bustling village of Alta.

In the midst of the comings and goings of miners and their families sat a log building, one of the first in the canyon, which worked as hard as the town’s residents in duty as a general store, post office, and army barracks. And then the snow fell in enormous volume. The mining era waned and soon a scattering of tourist cabins popped up, welcoming visitors attracted to the likes of 500 inches of fluffy snow in winter, cerulean blue skies, and rainbow valleys in summer. A ski lift was installed and today legions of active-interest fans (think skiing, snowboarding, hiking, horseback riding, camping) from all over the world flock to Alta every year to play and rejuvenate and relax in the High Country.

Splendor at Snowpine

Cottonwood Canyon is one of seven major ravines sliced into the midsection of the Wasatch and at Cottonwood’s topside is Snowpine Lodge. At the end of a day reveling in your favorite outdoor pursuit or even ambling about Alta’s village, Snowpine is where you want to be. Alta’s first luxury resort, Snowpine is steeped in the town’s mining lineage and in fact was built and incorporated into the original 1941 lodge.

What’s here for today’s discerning guests? To start, everyone is welcomed with an intoxicating blend of proud history from the town’s heady mining days and a palpable feel of luxury bathed in frame-worthy alpine surroundings. The lodge’s first visitor’s walked through the doors in early 2019 and the reception has been nothing short of stellar ever since. Among the many splendid perks awaiting guests is the amenity-packed Snowpine Club.

Discriminating Mountain Luxury

Welcome to high alpine pampering. How’s this for a list of irresistible palmares: Outdoor spas, saunas, always-there concierge, first class restaurant and bar, your own ski lockers and private transportation on the 45-minute trip to and from the airport.

And that’s just the tip of the powder pile. This is Alta’s finest private lodging destination complete with top-shelf luxury accommodations, thoughtful and engaging amenities, personalized service down to the smallest details, and annual benefits to please even the most seasoned traveler.

The best benefits, all year long

Being part of the Snowpine Club family brings a host of unforgettable benefits you will immediately appreciate and it all starts before you even get here. Club members are treated to prompt, private, round-trip transportation to the lodge four times a year, on dates of your choice. Upon arrival, a trio of huge lockers await (during Club weeks) in a private and secure room for stowing your gear.

And this is isn’t your run-of-the-mill locker room. A ski valet stands at the ready, treating your skis or snowboard to four complimentary annual tune-ups. If you don’t care to ski on a particular day (what, and miss a powder day?), club membership provides long-term storage for equipment and all that winter clothing, in a private and climate-controlled area. That means no more schlepping unwieldly gear through the airport; it will all be waiting for you at your next visit. All you have to do is grab your stuff and head for the hills. The locker room even offers a continental breakfast with beverages and strategically selected snacks to fuel up for a big day on the hill.

Put it all together with a packed food and spa credit that is updated annually and you’re set to go!

Membership has its privileges

If you’re in the mood for week-long getaway, Snowpine Club members are treated to two Club vacation weeks (summer and winter) in the lodge’s luxurious suites. Each suite is chock full of amenities and comfortably accommodate up to seven adults.

Ready to unwind next to a warm fire after a day on the slopes? Club members start the day with a complimentary breakfast, and snacks and beverages during the day. When it’s time to rest tired legs, the Club Lounge hosts an inviting fireside vibe and adjacent business center. A valet is on site here as well, in addition to a locker room for sprucing up prior to a relaxing evening.
